mindset & motivation Apr 29, 2021

Today's guitar lesson for beginners is about how playing guitar is all in your head. Hey guys, Brad Litton from SimpleGuitar.com here with another beginner guitar lesson for you on the mindset & motivation side of playing guitar & how we can hold our guitar playing back because of what goes on in our head. So today's guitar tutorial is a story from some lessons I had this week with some students & how we were able to remove the glass ceilings in their mind that would've held them back without some pushing.

The Worst Advice Ever For Guitar Players

mindset & motivation Feb 25, 2021

The worst advice ever for guitar players is to not learn other guitar players songs, solos, or licks! Hey rock stars, Brad Litton from SimpleGuitar.com here with another free guitar lesson for beginners here for you. Believe it or not, this is actual advice that I either hear people giving out, or bragging about their own approach to learning how to play guitar. But I think this is terrible advice and no guitar teacher or guitar player should ever encourage people to NOT learn how to play guitar solos, songs, or licks by other people. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you go check out Victor Wooten's TED Talk 'Music as a Language'. In it, he talks about his experience of learning music when he was young & how learning music is more like learning a language than it is learning math or science. When you approach learning guitar this way, then learning solos & songs by your favorite guitar players is more like learning their vocabulary that they use to speak. Could you imagine ...

How to Learn From EVERY Guitar Player

mindset & motivation Feb 13, 2021

Today I'm going to show you some advice I got from my dad that will help you know how to learn from EVERY guitar player you meet, see, or hear. Hey guys, Brad Litton from SimpleGuitar.com here with another beginner guitar lesson on mindset and motivation for you. Actually, this guitar mindset tutorial will help you whether you're a beginner or not! Some of the best advice I've ever gotten about how to play guitar came from my dad years ago. He told me, "You can learn something from every guitar player" and that advice has been a came changer for me for years. Now, I just realized while making this video that that advice from my dad also lines up with what Patrick Lencioni talks about in his book The Ideal Team Player where he advocates that in order to be an ideal team player, you need to be humble, hungry, and smart. In order to learn from other guitar players, you need to have those three traits. This is the difference between having an abundance mindset instead of a scarcity minds...

Your progress will be a lot slower if all you do is play the stuff you're already good at. It's good ...

The Number One Things Holding Your Guitar Playing Back

mindset & motivation Nov 28, 2020

The number one thing holding your guitar playing back is playing things too fast way too soon. Hey guys, Brad Litton from SimpleGuitar.com here with another beginner guitar lesson tutorial for you. Today we're on the topic of mindset & motivation side of guitar playing, which is always important. But a major issue I see with beginner guitar players all the time is they aren't patient enough to play new things slowly enough until they get it smooth. Especially teenage boys in guitar lessons just want to play everything as fast as possible as soon as possible, but what really is going to make you look cool is not just playing fast, but playing really, really clean & well fast.

If you can have the patience and dedication to play things slowly for a bit longer, it'll actually shorten the total amount of time it takes to learn guitar. Focus more on getting things you play on guitar to be smooth before you worry about getting them to be fast & you'll sound like a much better guitar player f...
