The Number One Things Holding Your Guitar Playing Back

mindset & motivation Nov 28, 2020

The number one thing holding your guitar playing back is playing things too fast way too soon. Hey guys, Brad Litton from SimpleGuitar.com here with another beginner guitar lesson tutorial for you. Today we're on the topic of mindset & motivation side of guitar playing, which is always important. But a major issue I see with beginner guitar players all the time is they aren't patient enough to play new things slowly enough until they get it smooth. Especially teenage boys in guitar lessons just want to play everything as fast as possible as soon as possible, but what really is going to make you look cool is not just playing fast, but playing really, really clean & well fast.

If you can have the patience and dedication to play things slowly for a bit longer, it'll actually shorten the total amount of time it takes to learn guitar. Focus more on getting things you play on guitar to be smooth before you worry about getting them to be fast & you'll sound like a much better guitar player faster. Of course, like most things I talk about in my guitar tutorials for beginners, this all applies to playing acoustic guitar or electric guitar.
