A lot of people will do this with an altered G chord & Cadd9, but really, you can play this song with only 2 fingers and sound a lot closer to how Matchbox Twenty played it on the record (I know, they changed from Matchbox 20 to Matchbox Twenty on the release of their second album). So in today's guitar lesson on how to play hang by Matchbox 20 on guitar I'm going to break down how to play the chords you need for the song, the strum patterns involved, and go over every section of the song for you.

But what I'm going to show you is how to play this song in E with no capo needed at all. Honestly I think this version is actually a bit easier to play than the original version, too. And you can use the solo from this guitar tutorial on acoustic guitar or electric guitar, though the bends will be much easier on electric.
