Learn How to Play Power Chords on Guitar

playing technique Feb 11, 2021

Learn how to play power chords is some of the best advice you can get when first learning how to play guitar. Hey guys, Brad Litton from SimpleGuitar.com with another beginner guitar lesson for you today! One thing that I've decided over the years is that the things that I started out with when I first started learning guitar, and the things that most beginner guitar players start out learning first, actually have a steeper learning curve than is necessary to play real music and have fun on guitar right away. Open chords is what most people will start out with, but power chords are SO MUCH EASIER for most people & you can play tons of songs right away by learning these super easy guitar chords. As a guitar teacher, my favorite thing to start new students out on is power chords in Drop D tuning because they're so simple and make learning guitar fun. Whether you're playing acoustic guitar or electric guitar, power chords for beginners unlock thousands of songs for you to play right away so I say they're the best beginner guitar chords to learn first. Also, power chords do get used across pretty much every genre of music, not just rock and roll. So have fun with today's guitar tutorial on power chords & then come back for more guitar tips and tricks in other videos!
